Collaborative working with other surgeries
Some patients may have heard that we are moving towards working more collaboratively with other GP practices in the Chichester area, – Parklands, Langley House, Lavant Road, Cathedral, Tangmere, The Witterings and Selsey – Our collaboration is known as the ‘Chichester Alliance of Medical Practices’ (ChAMP)
This is part of an agreement which the Coastal Commissioning Group are encouraging us to sign up to – to have a collective ‘mass’ of patients of over 30,000 to theoretically assist us, in time, to offer more choice to patients with the aim of keeping patients out of hospital and also to collaborate on cost savings within health care.
The initial areas being examined are:
- e.g. prescribing cheaper medicines in place of expensive ones which have the same effect; reducing over ordering of medicines; ceasing feed supplements which are no longer required; etc.
- Referrals – peer review of all referrals to ensure that they all follow the correct protocols in giving the necessary information to the hospital consultants (e.g. ecgs or bloods done) thus avoiding delays in investigations and ultimately treatments.’
