Southbourne Surgery works closely with the Primary Care Research Network (PCRN) to participate in high quality medical research projects which are relevant to GP practice.
We have achieved level 3 (highest level) of the 'Research Ready' toolkit which has been developed in conjunction with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the PCRN, covering the requirements of the Research Governance Framework for undertaking primary care research in the UK.
Research can take various forms within the surgery, such as simply asking for questionnaires to be filled in, or they may involve coming into the surgery to see a doctor or nurse. You may be asked by the surgery staff if you would like to participate, or you may receive letters through the post informing you of our projects. If you do not wish to receive any research information by post, please inform us by email email@example.com so that we can note your preference.
Please note that in all cases, there is no obligation for any patients to participate in studies and it will not adversely affect your care whether or not you decide to take part. If you join a research study you may change your mind at any stage and withdraw.
